UXMachines Pty Ltd will investigate how networks of low-cost optical sensors can detect and track drones to support earlier warning of potential aerial threats. The project has received a $190,000 grant through the Western Australian Government’s 2025–26 Defence and Research Teaming (DaRT) program.
The research aims to improve situational awareness around Defence personnel, infrastructure and critical assets. Its formal title is End-to-End Meshed Network of Low SAaP-C Optical Sensor Nodes to Provide Early Warning Capability to Vital Assets from UAS Threats.
The competitive DaRT grant round is administered by Defence West’s Defence Science Centre. This funding gives UXMachines an opportunity to advance practical drone detection research and contribute to Western Australia’s defence innovation capability.
